The short version

Cable is a personal, invite-only tool run by John Pennypacker in London. It stores your financial data so it can show it back to you. It never sells or shares it, shows no ads and uses no trackers.

What's stored

• Your Google sign-in: email address, name and profile picture, used only to sign you in. Cable never sees your Google password.
• Your second factor: the authenticator-app secret, held by our sign-in provider (Supabase Auth).
• Your finances: accounts, balances and transactions you add or import, plus your categories, budgets, rules and review history.
• Bank connections (only when enabled for you): an encrypted access token from Plaid (US) or Enable Banking (UK/EU). Access is read-only: Cable can never move money.
• Small technical records: rate-limit counters (keyed by a hashed IP for access requests) and sync logs. They hold no amounts or descriptions.

Where it's stored

In a Supabase Postgres database in London (AWS eu-west-2). The app runs on Vercel, with server functions in London. Bank tokens are encrypted before they're stored.

Who can see it

• You.
• Members of your household, if you add any later. Accounts you mark private stay visible only to you.
• The operator. As the person who runs Cable, John can technically access the database. He won't look at your data unless you ask him to, for example to fix a problem, but you should know the access exists.
• Our providers process data only to run the service: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (hosting), Google (sign-in) and, if enabled, Plaid or Enable Banking (bank data).

Your choices

• Export: download everything you can see as JSON or CSV in Settings, or ask John.
• Delete: delete your household's data in Settings. Bank access is revoked first, then the data is permanently deleted. You can also ask John to do it.
• Leave: ask John to remove your access. Removing access ends your sessions immediately, and your data is kept until you ask for it to be deleted.

Cookies

Only what's needed:

• sign-in session cookies on app.cablefinance.app
• your theme and currency preference
• a “signed in” hint (no token, no id), so this page can show “Go to Cable”

No analytics or advertising cookies.
